It was Thursday the 18th.
Today was X-country. I was to run 3km.
My goal was to not walk or stop,
I achieved that goal, and none of the boys passed me!
As soon as we got down to the domain, I was overwhelmed by a feeling of butterflies playing rugby in my stomach.
As the day went on, those butterflies turned into pigeons playing sky rugby in my stomach. Finally, it was 2:35pm, time for me to race. The year 8 girls lined up at the starting line, ready, set, GO! The clappers are the worst part of the race, being so loud and scarily close to your ears. They were off, haring away like there were being chased by wolves. I, on the other hand just gently jogged down the track like a hunter waiting for its prey to trier itself out.It turned quite hot while I was running, and that made me quite hot and tired even more.
While I was running, this thought kept on coming back up to the surface of my brain; you never have to do again. Just keep running! You never have to run this step again, or this step, or this one!
And it was nice to see mum and dad when I ran past the corner they were standing at. :) I finished my run with a sprint to the end and I'd come 8th. Second to last, but that doesn't matter. It was over! Finally, no more running! Well, at least until term four, then we do athletics. :(
The track I had to run was like this; around the bottom, up the top, going up to the top is where I passed Haylley and stayed in front of her until the end, she came 9th,
down into the forest, around the bottom and around the bottom again without the extra paddock.
I didn't enjoy having to do X-country, I never do!
But, at least I NEVER have to do it again!
At least, I don't think so...
You did it and you never have to do it again, that must feel great! You should be proud your achievements, you worked really hard to achieve your goal and that's all that matters. I like that you included detail that mattered to you.
